acrylic on board
This is the Hawaiian Chieftain – done out with my plein air group on a very gray, slightly misty day. Ships are tough subjects to capture and all the complex rigging needs to be abstracted, especially at the scale I was working. I think I got the general effect of this one. My older daughter crewed on tall ships like this one for a couple of summers, and she approved the painting, so I think it passes.
